PDO FACE & BODY THREADS

What are PDO Threads?

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are used for non-surgical face and neck lifts as well as facial rejuvenation and wrinkle reducing treatments.

Body PDO Threads are used to tighten sagging skin on the stomach, buttocks, back, inner thighs and upper arms. They can also be used to treat cellulite and stretch marks.

This minimally invasive procedure uses dissolvable PDO (Polydioxanone) threads – a material used in medicine for many years – mainly in heart surgery.

PDO threads help to relax muscles and tendons while stimulating the production of new collagen in the skin. In addition, within the body they can help speed up lymphatic drainage, and stimulate the production of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, vital for maintaining youthful looking skin.

How does it work?

This procedure involves the insertion of PDO threads via a cannula. The cannula is then removed leaving the thread in place. Over the following weeks the threads begin to dissolve, leaving the face lifted. An immediate effect can often be seen after treatment, however the results will improve over the course of 2-3 months.

Are there different types of PDO Threads?

There are many different types of PDO threads.

Mono Threads – these are smooth threads without barbs. Many of these threads are placed into the face in a mesh like fashion for skin tightening. Skin tightening usually improves after collagen starts forming around the thread. Treatment areas include neck, forehead and around the eyes.

Screw Threads – these can come in the form of one or two threads intertwined together around the inserting needle. Screw threads have a great effect on giving volume on sunken areas of the skin and used for general face lifting.

Cog Threads – these are essentially mono threads with barbs to hook to the underside of the skin. The barbs form a support structure that lifts the sagging tissues. Collagen formation can also occur around the threads and their barbs. Cog threads are most effective for jaw line lifting and slimming.

Are there any side effects?

There should be minimum interruption in daily life and no concerns about removal as the threads will be fully dissolved in the body after 2 -6 months. There may be some slight swelling and bruising following procedure.

How long do results last?

Effects of treatment should last approximately 12 -24 months depending on treatment. There are various threads achieving different results. Threads can be used in most areas of the face and neck and prices vary depending upon the area.
